Q. Is it OK to wear dark denim jeans (skinny jeans) to a bridal shower?
Tonya Anderson

A. My personal vote is usually “Sure, of course. Why not?” But before you slink into those skinny jeans, weigh the following factors: First consider where the shower is being held. Is it taking place in a fancy restaurant or hotel, or is it in someone’s home or a more casual restaurant? Next, what kind of people will be attending? If you know that the bride-to-be and most of her guests are the kind of people who would be shocked―shocked!―at the sight of someone showing up in jeans, then maybe find something that won’t cause bulging eyeballs and fainting spells from the peanut gallery. (Are you starting to sense which camp I’m in?) But, generally, for a gray-area occasion such as a shower, unless you know for sure that this is a super-uptight crowd, I always say go with something you feel comfortable and pretty in. Especially if you top it off with a nice shirt and a big smile.
