They’re the best way to stay organized on the road.
When it comes to packing for a trip, I’m a study in contradictions: I insist on unpacking if I’m staying anywhere for more than one night, but I hate actually doing it. I want to pack light, but I can’t help bringing a few extra items just in case (especially now that I’m usually traveling with an infant). I like having nice clothes with me, but refuse to waste time ironing once I arrive at my destination.
That’s why these incredibly smart eBags packing cubes have more or less revolutionized the way I travel. I know it seems weird—why would a couple of little zippered compartments make any difference to the royal pain of packing and unpacking? But they totally do.
Because the cubes pretty much force you to pack your stuff in a single layer, KonMari-style, it’s really easy to find anything you’re looking for without having to rifle through every single item in your suitcase. And if you’re a fellow unpacker, all you have to do to get settled, aside from hanging anything that needs it, is to move your cubes into drawers and unzip them. (Plus, if you group items together that also live together in your drawers at home, unpacking once you return is a breeze, too.)
The cubes also somehow make it easier to cram more stuff into your suitcase without leaving it bursting at the seams. I don’t exactly understand how—it’s either magic or physics. Maybe because the items within each cube get compressed slightly when you zip the cube, the amount of compressing that must be done to close your suitcase is reduced? Maybe because the cubes stack together really easily? Anyway, it works.
Finally—and again, I really don’t know why this is the case, but it is—the cubes help keep your clothes as wrinkle-free as possible. Don’t question it, just love it.
