You can now get a closer look at your friends' pictures.
In breaking news for all Instagram lovers, you can now zoom in on a friend’s photo. That’s right—no more worry of liking a photo due to accidental double-tapping.
Instagram announced the exciting news on their own feed earlier today. The post, which you can see below, is a short video that details how to zoom in on a photo. Simply pinch and expand to temporarily zoom in. The new feature is currently only available to iOS users, but Instagram promises it will be available to Android users in “the coming weeks.”
The one downside: You can’t stay zoomed in. As soon as you let go of the screen, the photo will bounce back to its original size. Nevertheless, many users seem happy with the enhancement, considering even a quick close-up of that amazing milkshake is a nice improvement.
Starting today, you can pinch to zoom on photos and videos in feed, on profiles and on Explore. Dive into an adorable puppy’s smile or into every detail of your friend’s new shirt. Over the past six months, you’ve seen many exciting changes come to Instagram, from a new icon to longer videos and even a new way to share everyday moments with Instagram Stories. And as things change, we’re still focused on improving the core parts of Instagram. Zoom is available today for Instagram on iOS. Zoom will be available on Android in the coming weeks.
