Since the emotion-conveying illustrations were first invented 1999, 2,666 official emoji have been created (with even more on the way!). But when sifting through all those pictorial feelings, have you ever thought about which emoji is used most commonly? Well, in honor of World Emoji Day, Facebook has found an answer—at least for its own platforms.

According to the social media giant, the most popular emoji used around the world is the laughing with tears emoji. Used to convey the emotion of laughing so hard that tears come out, the emoji can translate across all languages and cultures. This isn’t its first time in the spotlight, either. In 2015, the Oxford English Dictionary even chose it as its word of the year!

Around the world, people overwhelmingly choose positive-emotion emojis to send to their friends and families. Of the more than 60 million emojis used on Facebook every day (and more than 5 billion on Messenger!), the most popular over the last 30 days include not only laughing with tears, but also the smiling face with heart shaped-eyes and face throwing a kiss.

Though there is a winner for most popular emoji in the world overall, the most popular emoji used by each country varies. See the list below to see how emoji use varies from culture to culture.
