These online shopping hacks will help you get the best deals on everything Zappos has to offer.

Shoppers can contact customer service representatives three different ways—over the phone, online, or via email—24 hours a day, seven days a week (yes, even on major holidays!). And the retailer’s agents cheerfully help with just about any issue. After being greeted with “Happy National Son and Daughter’s Day,” this editor was able to get help with a lost package and sizing questions—and even received an unexpected Zappos coupon code.


VIP members receive free next business day shipping (those without VIP status get free second business day shipping) when your order is placed before 1 p.m. PST. VIPs also get access to a special customer service phone number with shorter wait times.

Though free, how you achieve VIP status is somewhat of a mystery. Zappos says membership is by email invite only. So who gets those emails? Zappos was just as vague: A customer service agent said it’s “decided by a team here at Zappos.” However, on this editor’s second attempt at asking how you become a VIP member, a different agent immediately offered to make her a VIP. Another win for using Zappos customer service!


Having trouble securing VIP status? There’s still a way to get the same shipping perks. The app has all the same features the desktop site has, but those who shop on the Zappos app will get free next business day shipping, too.


Zappos FAQ page explicitly states that they do not price match. However, some readers (and this editor) have reported that they were granted a “one time” exception to that rule when they asked a customer service agent about the policy. Notice a pattern here? It can’t hurt to ask customer service.


Though unable to verify this perk, it has been reported that Zappos sends emails to some customers when they navigate away from the site and leave items in their shopping cart. Some cart abandonment emails even include exclusive discounts. There’s no guarantee, but it could be worth a try if you don’t need the item right away.


Any avid shopper likely already knows about Zappos’ generous return policy. Customers have a full year—365 days—to return unworn merchandise. Simply select the item—or items—you’d like to return and print the free shipping label provided. The only catch? Save those shoeboxes—all items must be returned in the original packaging.
