Costco superfans, though you might be up-to-date on all the deals in the store, here’s one you might not know: If your membership is expiring anytime soon, you should renew today to save some money.
Today, May 31, 2017, is the last day to be locked into the old rate of $55. Tomorrow, June 1st, the cost of membership for Gold Star, business, and business add-on members will rise to $60—$5 more than the current membership rate. For executive members, whose benefits include a 2 percent cash-back reward on a majority of Costco purchases as well as special travel benefits, the price will jump $10, from $110 to $120.
Costco first announced it would be raising its membership prices earlier this year. As Money reported in March, the warehouse superstore generally increases prices every five or six years—the most recent price hike was enacted in 2011.
