What does it really take to impress the Queen? Good manners, poise, and knowing the proper protocol for all social scenarios, of course. As part of their (possibly delusional) preparations to attend the wedding of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, two Real Simple editors, Liz Steelman and Sarah Yang, took a class with Myka Meier, founder of Beaumont Etiquette, at the Plaza Hotel in New York City.

Meier was trained by a former member of The Royal Household of Her Majesty the Queen, so she knows a thing or two about what kind of training Meghan Markle has had to go through on her way to being a royal. During the session, Meier went over how to sit, wave, and eat with our editors… to hilarious results.

Watch the video above to learn a few etiquette tips that could come in handy in real life, too—whether you’re a royal or not.
