The book-loving actress finally has her own lifestyle guide and it's all about the South. Plus: How you can buy that dress on the cover.
Our favorite book-loving actress, Reese Witherspoon, announced today that she'll publish her first book this September: Whiskey in a Teacup: What Growing Up in the South Taught Me about Life, Love, and Baking Biscuits.
Making the announcement on her personal Instagram, the actress said the book will introduce readers to some of her entertaining and beauty tricks, inspired by the region where she grew up. "It's all about my secrets to southern living—from how I entertain, cook, decorate my home, celebrate holidays....and even how I do my hair," she said.
Witherspoon is known for promoting her love of the South (see her clothing line, Draper James) and her love of reading (check out her latest book club pick here) so this new project is the perfect marriage of two of her passions. According to the publisher, the book will include a few of Witherspoon's grandmother's recipes, along with stories about the actress's favorite Southern traditions, like barn parties.
The actress attributed the title of the lifestyle guide to her grandmother, Dorothea, who said Southern women are "whiskey in a teacup" because they may be delicate on the outside, but they're strong and fiery on the inside.
And if you're wondering if you can buy that dress on the book cover, you can! Witherspoon is wearing her collection's lace Rosslyn dress in "Lollipop Red" and there are still a few sizes left at Saks Fifth Avenue ($200, saksfifthavenue.com).
Whiskey in a Teacup will be published by Touchstone on September 18, but you can pre-order the book now ($35, amazon.com).
