The BBC nature documentary series is coming back, and it looks epic.
Ten years after the groundbreaking documentary Planet Earth took viewers on a wild (and gorgeous) ride through the animal kingdom, the BBC has released a second trailer for the long-awaited sequel, Planet Earth II—and it’s absolutely stunning.
Filmed over three years across the globe, Planet Earth II was shot using the latest ultra high definition technology. The result, as evidenced by the new trailer, is crystal clear, immersive images of animals in action: Giraffes trying to fend off predators, a sloth taking a swim, and monkeys leaping between city buildings.
Beloved British broadcaster and naturalist Sir David Attenborough will return as narrator for six new episodes of the nature series. The one-hour installments will explore the unique characteristics of grasslands, deserts, mountains, jungles, islands, and, for—the first time—cities. (Can you spot the Empire State Building in the trailer?) Composer Hans Zimmer and Bleeding Fingers Custom Music Shop have composed the score for the epic documentary.
