It turns out everyone has been pronouncing Chrissy Teigen's name wrong, including Chrissy Teigen herself.

Relatively nothing is off-limits for model, author and avid Twitter enthusiast Chrissy Teigen, who has dished on everything from her sex life with hubby John Legend to her struggles with postpartum depression. Teigen has even candidly discussed her stretch marks, and the 32-year-old doesn't shy away from documenting nearly every detail of her everyday life—breastfeeding and nude meal prep included.

The model's forthcoming approach to social media made her most recent tweet that much more surprising, when she revealed to her 10.7 million Twitter followers on Sunday that her last name is actually pronounced TIE-gen rather than TEE-Gen.

"Gave up a long time ago," Tiegen typed in response to a fan's tweet. "Last name is tie-gen not tee-gen." The model went on to admit that she even corrects strangers who pronounce her last name the way it was intended.

It turns out that not only has the public been mispronouncing her last name for well over a decade, but Teigen herself is guilty of doing the same, all in an effort to avoid a potentially uncomfortable confrontation. "I don't correct people, ever," she writes. "They can call me Janet and I won't. Wrong order? I'll eat it. Taxi going to the wrong airport? I'll change my flight."

While we can't relate to millions of people mispronouncing our surname on a daily basis, we can sympathize with Teigen's all-too-relatable take on keeping a cringe-worthy conversation at bay. For now, we'll add her confession to our ever-growing list of reasons to adore Teigen and her unpredictable tweets.
