Here’s Your Chance to Create a Gilmore Girls-Inspired Ice Cream Flavor
A flavor so good even Taylor’s Olde Fashioned Soda Shoppe would sell scoops of it.
We’ve seen plenty of celebrations to mark the return of Gilmore Girls on Netflix, from coffee shops across the country turning into Luke’s Diner for the morning, to Washington Depot, Connecticut (the town fictional Stars Hollow was based on), hosting a fan festival. But this one might literally be the sweetest: Brooklyn-based ice cream company Ample Hills is hosting a contest asking fans to help them create a Gilmore Girls-themed flavor.
Since Rory Gilmore declined the title of Stars Hollow’s Ice Cream Queen (in her defense, she just got back from backpacking around Europe and was leaving for Yale), the royal title is up for grabs. Ample Hills posted the contest on their Instagram account, asking fans to comment with suggested names and flavor combinations. According to the contest rules, the winner gets “a free pint, a cup of coffee, and an invitation to Friday night dinner.” If you want to participate, you have until October 31 to comment with your entry.
Might we suggest a “Coffee-coffee-coffee” flavor as a tribute to Lorelai and Rory’s caffeine addiction? Or maybe some kind of ridiculous twizzler-marshmallow combo in honor of their movie night feasts? Or perhaps a "Pop Tart Appetizer," with chunks of the breakfast pastry on the outside and an apple-flavored core? Or "Birthday Mallomars"? Whatever the winning flavor is, we’re sure it will be equally tasty for everything from Cop Rock marathons, wallowing over breakups, or just about any occasion where junk food is required (which might be all the time). Or you can savor it while you’re watching all the new episodes on Netflix November 25th.
