Read “Busy Woman Seeks Wife,” by Annie Sanders
In the great tradition of British chick lit heroines (see Bridget Jones and Shopaholic) comes Alex, a marketing executive with too many meetings and no time to pick up her dry cleaning. When her BFF Saff suggests Alex find a “wife,” she places a help wanted ad. Struggling actor Frankie Ward replies. Cue the romantic comedy high jinks.
Britain’s Got Talent has produced stars aplenty―from Leona Lewis to Susan Boyle. Now Paul Potts, winner of the reality TV competition’s 2007 season, releases Passione, an album of beautiful operatic renditions of modern and classic songs. Two standouts: Puccini’s “Lucevan Le Stelle” and “Senza Luce” (a.k.a. “Whiter Shade of Pale”). (Available May 5.)
A perfect Mother’s Day gift: Compiled by the editors of Life books, this coffee-table–worthy tome pairs tender images of moms and children at every life stage―from infancy to old age―with inspiring quotes. (Life With Father will be available on May 5.)
Watch “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” on DVD
The DVD of the Academy Award–winning film, directed by David Fincher (Panic Room), includes an extra feature entitled “The Curious Birth of Benjamin Button” that details what went into aging star Brad Pitt backward. Rather read than watch? Check out the original short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald. (Out May 5.)
