I think it’s fair to say people prefer quick results to results that take a long time to notice. I’m a pretty patient person when it comes to skincare because I know time and consistency are standard stipulations of adopting new routines and products — but that doesn’t mean I want to wait six-plus weeks for improved skin.

When a product promises immediate results, I’m definitely wary of the marketing language and lofty claim. With Dermalogica’s Age Bright Spot Fader, however, it’s the shoppers, not the company, sharing how quickly this two-in-one treatment turns their persistent skincare woes on their head. The anti-aging, acne-fighting treatment boasts 5,500 loves on Sephora’s site, with reviewers praising the “huge difference” it makes in brightening dark spots and nixing blemishes.

Scrolling through the positive reviews, you’ll find shoppers calling the treatment a “miracle worker,” “holy grail,” and “game changer.” One reviewer revealed her particularly fast-acting experience with Dermalogica’s Spot Fader, saying, “I've had the worst hormonal/stress related acne for the past month, and NOTHING has been even the slightest help... I'm desperate over here. One day, three applications (initial, one in the afternoon, one before dinner) — and it's all almost gone.”

While seeing major improvement in just one day seems too good to be true, others also comment on how efficiently the skincare savior diminishes discoloration, hormonal and cystic acne, and scarring. “This is truly a miracle worker and heals my active breakouts fast and hyperpigmentation fades within a few days to a week,” a shopper reports. “It’s non-drying and is living up to its claims.”

Apparently, this small-but-mighty product even outperforms more intense treatments and pricier options. “I got this product after being on Accutane for around four to five months and I had a lot of dark spots from where acne used to be,” a Sephora customer explained. “I’ve used this product just under a week and like I’m telling you almost all of the dark spots are gone! I’m shook. My whole family and friends have commented that my face looks extremely clear.”

The Age Spot Fader features salicylic acid, a beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) and mini powerhouse that can sneak deep into pores to clear out grime build-up before it reaches the skin’s surface, oxidizes, and turns into a blackhead or blemish. Unlike other exfoliating acids, salicylic acid is oil soluble, so it’s better at penetrating oily skin than its alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) peers (like glycolic and lactic acids). Dermatologica’s formula also harnesses niacinamide and hexylresorcinol, two ingredients shown to improve skin brightening and assist with early signs of aging, and the brand’s original AGE Bright Complex. Niacinamide, a type of vitamin B3, also helps your skin lock in moisture, so you won’t have to worry about the chemical exfoliant component over-drying your skin.

It’s rare to see reviews this effusively positive on, well, anything, but many shoppers express relief at finally finding a solution for decades-long and “forever-lingering” battles with dark spots, scars, and adult acne. If you’re looking for a summertime must-have to combat blemishes before they appear and reverse the damage the sun’s harmful (ugh, but so warm) rays have wrought on your precious skin, pop over to Sephora for the multi-tasking product reviewers say you needed “like yesterday.”
