It’s Official: Amazon Prime Day 2020 Is on Its Way
Mark your shopping calendar now.
Amazon Prime Day competes with Black Friday and Cyber Monday for the esteemed title of Biggest Shopping Day of the Year, and now we have an official date: Amazon Prime Day 2020 will be October 13. Speculation earlier this year that Amazon Prime Day would be delayed proved true, as the huge online shopping day—which typically takes place in July—was pushed to accommodate issues caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Now that we have a date confirmed by Amazon—you may have seen unconfirmed coverage of the Prime Day date floating around the internet last week—Amazon fans can finally plan for their shopping Olympics, when unbeatable deals on must-have products are plentiful and nearly impossible to resist. If you’re planning to shop Amazon Prime Day 2020, read on for answers to your top questions.
Amazon Prime Day officially starts on October 13, but it’s more than just a day—Prime Day now officially runs from October 13 at 3 a.m. ET to October 15 at 2:59 a.m. ET, a full 48 hours.
Early Prime Day deals have even become a thing, with steep discounts available as far as a week in advance of Prime Day’s start. With that in mind, if you pay attention, you might be able to shop great products at amazing prices for days.
Prime Day offers some of the best Amazon prices of the year. It’s Amazon’s self-created shopping holiday, and during it, you’ll find great deals across the Amazon site. If you’re subscribed to Amazon emails, you’re almost guaranteed to get plenty of emails about the very best sales and offers, too.
Technically, 48 hours, but you’ll likely find the best deals on October 13 and October 14. Early Prime deals, last-minute deals, and even a few deals after Prime Day officially ends will be available, too, though, so keep your eyes peeled, especially if you’re hoping to accomplish your holiday shopping or check a few things off your wish list this October.
If Amazon Prime Day 2020 is anything like last year, there will be too many great deals to count. Top Prime Day deals in 2019 included low prices on Ring Video Doorbells, Amazon Echo Dots (and other Alexa products), TVs, FitBits, and more. Amazon Echo Dots were available for $25 (50 percent off) last year, and buyer-beloved vacuums—including a Dyson—were available for hundreds of dollars off their standard prices.
You can also get deals on bedding and linens, clothes, bags, shoes, and more on Amazon Prime Day, but typically, the most impressive deals are on electronics and tech such as TVs, smart home devices, and tablets. If you’ve been eyeing a new pair of wireless earbuds or wanting a new smart home device, Prime Day is your chance to get one at an amazing price.
This year, watch specifically for deals on some of the top electronics of the year, such as the Nintendo Switch, the new Amazon Echos, fresh smartwatch models, and more.
Early Amazon Prime Day deals are already available: Starting September 28, Amazon Prime Members can get two Echo Dot devices for $39.98 (basically BOGO—they are typically $40 each) and get up to $100 off Fire TV Edition Smart TVs, such as this Insignia Smart TV. Other early deals are available from September 28 through October 13, when Prime Day officially begins.
For the best Prime deals, yes. These top deals are typically available only to Prime Members. Prime Memberships start at $13 a month or $119 a year (though discounted memberships are available for college students and some with EBT/Medicaid cards). Signing up for a Prime Membership takes only a minute and can be done anytime, so you can sign up whenever the urge strikes (even on Prime Day itself) if you don’t already have one.
Beyond access to Prime Day deals, an Amazon Prime Membership comes with free shipping and delivery, savings on certain types of items, access to Prime TV, and more.
