This Charity is at the Top of My Holiday Giving List This Year—Here's Why

Save the Children is committed to making change for children around the world—and you can help them by making a donation that has a big impact.

What is Save the Children?

Save the Children is a 100-year-old charity focused on improving the lives of kids around the globe. Unfortunately, millions of children worldwide do not live past their fifth birthday (many of whom pass from preventable causes) which is why Save the Children is committed to delivering lifesaving and life-improving assistance to help combat this statistic. They believe that kids deserve a bright future, where they are healthy, educated, and safe—and they're asking for your help this holiday season. You can help make a change with small efforts that have a big impact on the 100 million kids Save the Children reaches every year.

What You Can Do to Help

The best way to get involved with Save the Children is through a monetary donation. Your donation could be used towards life-saving antibiotics, clean water, or education for those in need, and so much more. The best part? Making a change in a child's life isn't as costly as it seems—just 38 cents could help pay for medicine to treat a child suffering from malaria; 75 cents could help give antibiotics to three children suffering from pneumonia (one of the largest preventable illnesses that claims the lives of children yearly); and 90 cents could help provide half a month's worth of water for a school child in Somalia. Clearly, even the smallest efforts have a big impact this holiday season.

Why I'm Donating to Save the Children This Holiday Season

The importance of getting involved with charities, especially around the holidays, is something that was instilled in me by my parents at a young age. During the holiday season where we're all so freely spending our money, frantically searching for the perfect gift for friends and family members, it's important to take a step back and remember those who truly deserve and need our help this time of year. While I may not have children of my own, I'm passionate about ensuring children everywhere have access to the same basic benefits that I had growing up. This includes: access to healthcare, quality education, and nutritious food.

When I heard about Save the Children and its mission, I instantly knew it aligned with my values. I love that it doesn't take a giant donation to make a big impact—just a few dollars can help make a change to help kids in the US and around the world. Thanks to my small gift, I'm improving and maybe even saving, the lives of children around the world. I feel good knowing that my money is going to a good cause but I feel even better knowing it's having a real-time, lifetime impact.
