Why the Ninja Professional Countertop Blender Is My Favorite Kitchen Appliance
If you've read my post about the best citrus juicer, then you already know about my picky palate. But in case you haven't, let me fill you in: I absolutely despise fruits and vegetables. Not because of the taste, but the texture. Biting into slimy or raw foods just makes me cringe. I can tolerate veggies like carrots, potatoes (they count, right?), green beans, and lettuce, but when it comes to fruits I choke down bananas and apples and that's it. At age 25, I admit I wasn't too concerned about my diet. Sure, I wanted to eat healthier, which is why the Ninja Professional Blender topped my Christmas list, but it wasn't until my thyroidectomy two months later that I started getting serious about nutrition.
Thankfully, my mother listened to my Christmas wish and surprised me with the blender, and now it's my favorite kitchen appliance (sorry, KitchenAid mixer, you're still near and dear to my heart). Its 1000-watt motor crushes fruits in seconds, so I can make a healthy smoothie in a flash even if I oversleep. I just toss in the ingredients (frozen bananas, peanut butter, vanilla yogurt, and milk are my go-to's), select the medium setting, and then transfer my concoction with the easy-pour spout into a tumbler cup for an on-the-go breakfast.
The blender comes apart in three dishwasher-safe pieces; however, since I use mine several times a week I find myself hand-washing it most of the time. It's still easy to clean, especially if I add a few drops of dish soap, fill with water, and run the blender.
In addition to helping me incorporate more fruits and veggies into my diet, this blender has been a game-changer for entertaining. The 72-oz. container allows me to whip up delicious milkshakes, daiquiris, and margaritas in one sitting, as opposed to multiple runs with my old miniature blender from my dorm room days.
The Ninja Professional blender also came with a recipe book to help inspire new culinary creations. To be frank, I haven't used it much, but it did provide an excellent starting point and encouraged me to use the appliance in different ways. Surprise: It practically replaces a food processor!
This professional-grade blender is powerful, precise, and pretty—no wonder it has thousands of five-star reviews on Amazon. On a more personal note, I credit this amazing kitchen appliance with improving my diet. Thanks to all the nutrient-packed foods it's helped me consume, I've managed my weight post-surgery, and I've just felt better overall. I've also loved experimenting with different ingredient combinations (hint: spinach doesn't really alter a beverage's flavor and blueberries plus avocado are dynamite), and I definitely find myself looking forward to slurping fruits instead of cringing at the bite—talk about a gift that keeps on giving.
