This Is My All-Time Favorite Face Mask—And It Only Takes One Minute to Work Its Magic

Quickly draw dirt and oil out of your pores for visibly clearer skin with the secret weapon in my skincare routine.

Draw Out Dirt and Oil Quickly With This Self-Heating Mask

In my nearly lifelong quest to find my perfect skincare routine, I've experimented with a lot of face masks. From shimmering unicorn peel-off masks to mud masks with rose quartz and volcanic mineral powder, I've tried just about everything. In high school, I always thought of myself as having fairly normal combination skin. I got some pimples here and there, but I thought it would resolve itself when I got to college. To my surprise, my acne actually got worse in college, when it developed into cystic acne on my cheeks and hormonal acne on my chin. After I graduated, I made it my mission to find a way to get it under control. Enter: The Biore Charcoal Instant Warming Clay Mask, or as I like to call it, my Holy Grail of skincare.

Within days of trying it for the first time, I knew I had a winner. My pores were smaller, my skin was smoother, and my acne started to go away. The best part? It only takes one minute (yes, you read that right).

Simply wet your face (leave it wet; moisture makes the mask heat up), dry your hands, apply the mask to your face, wait 60 seconds, and rinse it off. I like to bring it in the shower with me to save even more time, but it works no matter where you use it. You know it's working when you feel it heating up, and the charcoal draws the dirt and oil from your pores. At only $6 for a box of four masks on Amazon, it's incredibly affordable, too. I love that I can grab it at just about any drugstore or grocery store, including Target and Walmart.

I'm not the only one obsessed with this mask. One Amazon reviewer says her skin is nearly perfect after one use: "I noticed a difference right after using it. It exfoliates without irritating, and it sucks up dirt and oil without drying. Plus it feels so good when it warms on your face and hands."

This mask is recommended for use two to three times a week. I usually use it once a week with my daily routine of cleanser, toner, and moisturizer. It's dermatologist-tested, paraben free, and cruelty free, so it's perfect for any skin type. Biore also makes a blue agave version of the mask, just in case you feel like mixing things up.
