Facial Oils Have Totally Changed My Dry Skin—These Are the Ones I Can't Live Without

A woman touches her face in front of a mirror

I thought I'd tried just about everything for my dry, tight, flaky skin—but when I discovered face oils, everything changed and I'm not looking back. (P.S. If you're not sure where to add oils into your skincare routine, ALWAYS pat them on after moisturizer to lock in and boost hydration and glow, never the other way around!) Here's a roundup of some of my personal favorite facial oils.

Herbivore Botanicals Emerald Deep Moisture Glow Oil

This oil has "deep moisture" written right into its name, and I'm happy to report that it lives up to its promise. Its quick-absorbing formula contains soothing hemp oil and adaptogens, like shiitake mushroom, for hydration that lasts all day or night, but still wears well under makeup. Plus, its gorgeous minimalist green and white bottle looks great sitting atop my vanity.

Glossier Futuredew

If the Gen Z-approved skincare and makeup brand Glossier is known for one thing, it's definitely its emphasis on clear, glowing, youthful skin (a.k.a. the "Glossier glow"). Enter Futuredew, the combination oil/serum that promises to gift you "Glossier skin in a bottle." I pat on a layer of the thick plant-based product after moisturizer every morning and find that it gives my skin a lit-from-within brightness, whether I top it with makeup or wear it alone.

The Ordinary 100% Organic Rose Hip Seed Oil

If you're looking for a more wallet-friendly option, this rosehip oil from The Ordinary is a solid choice no matter your budget. Facial oil fans swear by rosehip oil because of its highly concentrated vitamin A and linoleic acid, and it's made by cold-pressing, which helps preserve its properties during extraction. And since The Ordinary packages its rosehip oil in a dark, UV-protective bottle, it will remain shelf-stable much longer than other rosehips on the market.

White and gold bottle of Farsali Rose Gold Elixir from Sephora photo

8 of 10

Farsali Rose Gold Elixir

When I first tried this oil, I thought it was a little too hype-y. After all, are gold flecks really necessary in skincare? So while I set myself up to be disappointed, I'm happy to report that this oil is good. It absorbs quickly, making it a great pre-makeup primer, and it gave my skin a glow I honestly didn't expect thanks to rosehip seed oil, vitamins A and C, and linoleic and linolenic acids.
