This Acne-Fighting Face Mask Has 230,000 Loves on Sephora—Here's Why I Swear By It

In all my years of dealing with acne, no blemish-busting mask has beaten this Glamglow cult fave.

My Holy Grail Face Mask: Glamglow Supermud Activated Charcoal Treatment Mask

Let me start out by saying I am a face mask fanatic. And when it comes to acne-fighting masks, I've just about tried them all. Most of the time, they feel nice and might shrink spots, but in the end I don't notice much of a change in my (especially stubborn) skin's clarity. Enter the Glamglow Supermud mask.

Made of a blend of six acids—including acne-busting salicylic acid—and activated charcoal to clear pores, it stings ever so slightly upon application, which soon fades to a pleasant mud finish. Small chunks of charcoal lend some light exfoliation when applying and then again when washing it off. According to a study by Glamglow, 94 percent of users said that the mask gently cleared their skin after one day. And I can totally attest to those results.

When my skin is looking particularly spotty, I smooth the mask on after a shower and let it dry for around 20 minutes. (Don't worry, it's 'Gram-friendly, too.) When you apply it, it starts as a thin dark gray layer, but it eventually dries to a cool gray-blue color. It feels slightly gritty when washing off, which adds to the pleasant exfoliation effect. Immediately, I notice that my skin is less red, with shrunken pores and smaller bumps. I follow it up with my favorite Vitamin-C serum to further brighten skin and fade old acne spots. If I'm feeling extra luxurious (treat yo' self, right?), I'll slather on the Glamglow Thirstymud Hydrating Treatment for a hyaluronic acid-filled overnight moisturizing mask.

When I wake up the next morning, my skin is noticeably clearer, with pimples seriously reduced in size—or entirely gone—and redness nowhere to be found. I've found it to be effective even on my stubborn cystic hormonal acne.

The Supermud mask is a little pricier than most acne treatments, but in my opinion it's completely worth it. The higher price is justified with higher quality ingredients and better efficacy than the average drugstore mask. In fact, I love this mask so much that I even re-purchased it in the mega size so it'll last me for months and months to come (though the regular size can last awhile, too).

If you're like me and have searched endlessly for a mask that'll seriously make a difference in your acne, try the Glamglow Supermud mask.
