Listen to “Everything is New,” by Jack Peñate
His 2007 album was a hit in his native London, and now the pop-rock singer-songwriter’s second CD has hit stateside. Musing lyrics coupled with cheery tunes make this refreshing import perfect for the waning days of summer. Download “Pull Your Heart Away” and the surprisingly uplifting “Let’s All Die.” (Out August 18.)
Fans of Judith Koll Healey’s novel The Canterbury Papers―starring 13th century French princess Alais Capet, a medieval Nancy Drew―will enjoy this sequel. When Capet’s Aunt Constance and a prized chalice go missing, the spirited and inquisitive princess volunteers to track them down.
Here’s a refresher course on season two before the addictive series set in the 1960s kicks off on August 16th at 10 p.m. EDT:
British advertising firm PPL has just taken over Sterling Cooper.
Betty Draper (January Jones), found out she’s pregnant and promptly slept with a man who wasn’t her husband.
Peggy (Elisabeth Moss) confessed to Pete (Vincent Kartheiser) that she gave birth to his child but gave it up for adoption.

See “Julie & Julia”
In this charming comedy written and directed by When Harry Met Sally’s Nora Ephron, Julie Powell (played by Enchanted’s Amy Adams) sets out to cook all 524 recipes from Julia Child’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking in one year―while blogging about it. The film toggles between her journey of culinary (and self) discovery in 2002 and the transformation of Julia Child (The Devil Wears Prada’s Meryl Streep) from gourmande to chef 50 years earlier. Bon apetit!

Listen to “Depedro” by Depedro
The debut solo album of former Calexico guitarist Jairo Zavala is primarily in Spanish, but even if you don’t speak the romance language, you’ll appreciate these soothing melodies and Zavala’s sexy scratchy voice. Two tracks that’ll have you hooked: “La Memoria” and “Don’t Leave Me Now.” (Out August 18.)
High School Musical’s Zac Efron and Friends’ Matthew Perry star in this Vice Versa-inspired movie about an unhappy husband who suddenly finds himself transformed into his 17-year-old self. Tweens, especially, will enjoy Efron acting like an adult who’s trying to act like a kid. Confusing? Maybe. Hilarious? Definitely.
