I know you don't know me (unless you're my #1 reader, hi Mom), but I am not good at organizing my space. I wish I could be the type of person who finds comfort in cleaning her environment or lives by the idea that her surroundings dictate her thought functions so clean space, clean mind, but... I'm chaos. I don't just like makeup, I collect makeup. I'm not just sentimental, I fill shoe boxes with mementos. You may be thinking "hoarder," but I'm just passionate about my things, OK???

Anyway, as you can imagine, my home is not exactly compartmentalized, and looking for that one specific lip gloss in a sea of bobby pins, lip stains, and miscellaneous knick knacks from 2005 can really slow me down in the morning. Luckily, I found the one thing—the ultimate organizing hack—that really whipped my bathroom into shape and helped me declutter my space so I know where the hair treatments are, where the face masks are, and where all my travel-friendly products are for quick access during a last-minute packing frenzy.

The answer, my friend, is blowing in Amazon's all-purpose wind, and it's getting an over-the-door hanging shoe organizer. Instead of draping one of these over my closet door to store shoes, I have one hanging on my bathroom door, and it's full of hairsprays, make-up removers, scrunchies (yes, from 2005), and everything else I used to knock over with every turn in my cramped bathroom.

Amazon's best-selling shoe rack has 24-pockets and is clear, so you can easily survey what items are in which pockets instead of riffling through each looking for something specific (buy for $8.47 here). The product has over 2,500 reviews on Amazon and has racked up 4.7 out of 5 stars, so I think it's safe to say it's a home-organizing hit.

Now, what to do about the rest of my apartment...
