DIY Magnetic Desk Organizer

What You’ll Need:

  • Magnetic board (we used this $13 one from IKEA)
  • Painter’s tape
  • Chalkboard paint
  • Small glass jar with lid
  • Glue, such as E6000
  • Magnets
  • Chalk marker
  • Paper pen cups (we used these ones from IKEA)
  • Empty tin can for chalk (we used a sardine can)

Follow These Steps:

  1. Tape off one section of the magnetic board and paint with chalkboard paint. Let dry and paint another coat. Let dry completely.
  2. Brush chalkboard paint onto the jar lid. Let dry completely, then adhere a magnet onto the bottom of the jar. Use a chalk marker to label the lid.
  3. Glue magnets onto the back of paper pen cups, a stack of Post-its, and a pencil sharpener.
  4. Use a cleaned and painted sardine tin to hold chalk.

DIY Magnetic Vanity

What You’ll Need:

  • Magnetic board (we used this $13 one from IKEA)
  • Copper contact paper (we used this one from Home Depot)
  • Nut container with plastic lid
  • Gold spray paint
  • Glue, such as E6000
  • Magnets
  • Paper pen cups
  • Metal slide-top containers
  • Small glass jar with lid
  • Hooks
  • Mirror

Follow These Steps:

  1. Apply contact paper onto magnetic board, smoothing out any air bubbles as you go. Trim off excess contact paper and fold the edges around the board.
  2. To make the mini tissue dispenser: Take a small, cleaned nut container and cut a slot into the plastic lid. Spray-paint the container and let dry. Remove tissues from a tissue box, and place them in the container. Glue a magnet onto the bottom of the container.
  3. Glue magnets onto the back of paper pen cups for holding brushes and onto the lid of the jar for holding hair clips. You can also glue magnets directly onto nail polish bottles or other cosmetics. Adhere magnets onto hooks for holding jewelry.
  4. Glue mirror onto board and let dry completely.
