Our Favorite Organizers From the IKEA Catalog 2019
The IKEA catalog 2019 is here, and the Swedish superstore is releasing a whole new line of clever storage tools and organizers—these are the must-haves we’re buying immediately.
Every year, IKEA drops a new catalog, and the IKEA catalog 2019—just like all its predecessors—is brimming with clever style tips and tricks, colorful home décor and wall art, and streamlined home furnishings.
We’re ogling the pretty textiles and new couches, of course, but we’re also all about the new SAMMANHANG collection: simple organizers that let you put your bags, shoes, hats, and more on orderly display (or tuck them neatly away so your space can stay clutter-free). The collection, created in collaboration with seven designers, has more than 25 pieces, which will start appearing in IKEA stores and online in August. These are the organizers we’re most excited about.
SAMMANHANG Wall Shelf
To buy: $13; ikea.com.
Corral journals, greeting cards, notepads, and other lightweight, thin items on this handy wall shelf. The placement on the wall keeps everything out of the way (and off precious surface space) while keeping important keepsakes or reminders front and center—this could even function as a catchall by the front door in a small entryway or dorm room.
SAMMANHANG Tray Stand
You’ll have to purchase the trays for this stand separately (they cost $5 a piece and come in three patterns), but that means you can use the stand to organize almost anything without being limited to objects of a particular height. Use it to keep spices or other pantry supplies easily accessible or to keep cosmetics and creams limited to a relatively small area of your bathroom counter. The great thing about this organizer is that it’s dynamic: It can do almost anything you need it to.
To buy: $10 for a set of three boxes; ikea.com.
These pretty organizers from the 2019 IKEA catalog come in two sizes. Easily stack them in one space or spread them around for pops of the playful checkered pattern in unexpected places, such as on a bookshelf or in a linen closet. The boxes are well-sized for sunglasses or other small collectibles and the design is reminiscent of matchboxes.
SAMMANHANG Coffee Table
To buy: $70; ikea.com.
This powder-coated steel and tempered glass coffee table fixes coffee tables’ greatest flaw: the lack of storage. You can display your coffee table books (or something more unusual, like the boats pictured) without cluttering the surface, optimizing your space and making your coffee table more than just a pretty foot rest or a place to stack your magazines.
SAMMANHANG Glass Box with Lid
Fill these boxes with knick-knacks, office supplies, small accessories, or whatever else suits your fancy. (We happen to think they make perfect nail polish organizers, as pictured.) The lids mean you can stack them, and the clear walls mean you can see everything inside, so you’ll never forget what’s in there—and be forced to keep it relatively tidy.
