Later this summer, the paint company Clare will add a new hue to its permanent paint collection—and it's letting fans pick the color. If you love picking out paint chips, are a perpetual re-painter of rooms, and have always wondered how paint companies choose their hues, now is your chance to get in on the action. Clare is "putting the ball in your court" with a NCAA playoffs-style bracket to help pick its new paint color—and you can cast a vote for your favorite.

Here's how it works: the color experts at Clare have already chosen the "Elite Eight," a curated collection of 8 potential paint colors (check them out, below). These choices have been paired into color family matchups ("teams") of pinks, greens, blues, and yellows. "Fans can submit a prediction bracket to narrow these eight colors down to one top choice, and the color that receives the most picks will land a coveted spot in the Clare color palette," the company explains in a press release.

Pick your favorites quickly—you have until August 5 to submit your bracket here. Not only does a winning bracket mean your top choice will actually become a shoppable paint color, but for each perfect bracket submitted, the company will reward fans with a $10 credit to shop clare.com. Our recommendation: use that discount to make over an accent wall (or interior door) with the winning hue.

Once the new paint color has been revealed, Clare will crowdsource a name for the hue. Then comes the hard part: waiting until the paint color is available to shop later this summer.
