The recall involves the retailer’s Luminous Collection candles.
Before you settle down with a nice cup of cocoa, a good book, and a deliciously scented candle to relax and unwind this holiday season, you might want to check if your candle is part of a nationwide recall. Yankee Candle, known for its many scents from the traditional (like vanilla, lavender, and cinnamon stick) to the more adventurous and trendy (think salted caramel, Christmas cookie, and pumpkin pie), just announced a voluntary recall of 31,000 candles due to a possible laceration hazard.
The candles involved in the recall are part of the Luminous Collection. The vessels are square shaped and contain a fragrant wax with three wicks. These candles were sold in stores and nationwide (and in Canada) from September 2016 through November 2016. The retailer had received 16 reports from consumers that when the candle is lit, the glass jar may crack, so people could risk cutting themselves on the jagged edges. So far, no injuries have been reported. The six Luminous Collection candles involved in the recall are the Sea Salt & Coral, Blackberry & Sage, Apple Blossom & Melon, Sugarcane & Honey, Pine & Sandalwood, and Cinnamon & Cedar fragrances.
If you own one of these candles, you’re encouraged to return it to a Yankee Candle store for a full refund and one free candle of your choice.
