These Will Be the Top Color Trends for Spring 2021, According to Pantone
Hint: consider these hues for your next paint project.
The Pantone Color Institute is well respected for its annual Color of the Year predictions, so when the company reveals its color trend forecasts, the design world takes notice. Recently, Pantone released its Fashion Color Trend Report for Spring/Summer 2021. As you may know, the colors that become popular in the fashion world are often reliable indicators of the hues that will eventually pop up in home design. By keeping an eye on trending color palettes in the fashion industry, we can preemptively stock up on paint and throw pillows in soon-to-be-popular hues.
So what does Pantone foresee for the future? After months of stay-at-home orders and a public health crisis, Pantone is predicting cheerier days—and sunnier color trends—in the year ahead. A warm marigold, serene cerulean blue, and an optimistic yellow all land at the top of Pantone's color predictions.
"Infused with a genuine authenticity that continues to be increasingly important, colors for Spring/Summer 2021 combine a level of comfort and relaxation with sparks of energy that encourage and uplift our moods,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. Check out a few of the trending colors below, along with ideas for the best ways to incorporate these hues into your own home.
Pantone says that this deep golden orange "lends a warming presence." To incorporate this sunny, saturated hue into your home, search for matching textiles. Marigold throw pillows will warm up your living room—and are easy to switch out when the trends change.
This crisp cerulean blue is meant to recall the sky on a sunny spring day. Consider painting your bedroom or a bathroom in this soothing shade.
Pantone admits: rich rust-colored hues are more common for autumn color palettes, but this earthy tone will be popular this spring. Keep your eyes peeled for terracotta pots and vases or rust-colored linen duvet covers.
Pantone calls this color an "optimistic yellow." This electric hue is sure to attract attention, so decorate with it in small doses. One statement piece, like a table lamp or vase, will brighten up the entire room.
In addition to the trend forecast palette, Pantone has also built a "Core Classics" palette of new neutrals for spring/summer 2021. In place of bright whites, warm Buttercream will become a new favorite. If you're searching for a white paint color for your kitchen, check out these warm off-white paint colors.
