IKEA, known for its affordable and stylish furniture and home accessories (not to mention its Swedish meatballs), is beloved by people around the world for good reason. The megastore is highly accessible—you can outfit your apartment or house with everything Ikea, even on a tight budget.

But another thing the Swedish retailer is known for is its infamous instructions. The pictorial manuals can be confusing, frustrating, and disheartening all at once. How many of us have spent hours trying to build a bed or dresser while trying to decipher the simple illustrations? Many are even willing to admit that building Ikea furniture has been the cause of crying fits and fights with a significant other.

Even though most of us think they’ve seen it all when it comes to Ikea furniture assembly, a recent Reddit post might surprise you. Reddit user number1punjabi posted a photo of his Ikea instructions for a MALM six-drawer dresser that has a surprising final step. The user wrote, “These Ikea instructions actually told me to throw away four screws at the end”—and sure enough, the photo shows the screws heading for a trash can.

In the comments on the post, some users suggested saving the screws in case the ones on the dresser needed to be replaced after being stripped, or to use for another project. While other users wondered if Ikea includes a standard package of tools for every piece, instead of personalizing the amount of tools needed for each specific product. The world may never know.
