Here’s Your First Look at Homesense, the New Store From HomeGoods
The doors open on August 17th.
HomeGoods devotees have been counting down the days until the beloved chain’s new line of stores open. But now the wait is over. The first Homesense store opens on August 17th at 8 a.m. in Framingham, Massachusetts, where the company’s headquarters are based.
Real Simple got an exclusive first look at the new store, and it’s pretty much all we’ve ever hoped for—and more. It’s still a treasure trove of amazing decor finds at affordable prices, but the new line of stores has expanded furniture, lighting, and art departments. To make room for the larger offerings, there are no pets or kids’ sections.

When visitors first walk in the store, they’ll notice the “Curated Corner,” a display created by store designers that will change frequently and is based on a certain theme (for the opening at the Framingham store, it’s tribal-inspired). Everything in the display—pillows, rugs, accent tables, smaller accessories, and more—fits the theme.
And while HomeGoods is all about digging around to find an unexpected treasure, Homesense has a more curated feel, with in-store designers creating inspirational displays. Items are grouped based on color and design style, and displays are much larger (art is mounted on the walls and on oversized easels; lighting is shown in individual cubbies or hanging from the ceilings) so customers can better visualize the pieces in their own homes. There’s a greater sense of organization, too—at Homesense, most matching items are displayed together so it’s easy to find a pair.
Another section exclusive to Homesense is the “General Store,” which is dedicated to all things organization, cleaning, and home improvement—making the new store a one-stop shop for decorating and renovating. Here shoppers can find utilitarian items, like paint, buckets, and toolkits. Additionally, customers can grab mailboxes, storage options, and furniture covers.
There are plans to open three more Homesense stores in 2017 in East Hanover, New Jersey; Ocean Township, New Jersey; and Westwood, Massachusetts.
