Birkenstock devotees know that there’s nothing like throwing on a pair of their favorite, worn-in sandals. They’re super comfortable and fit your fit just so—all thanks to the footbed, which is designed to mold to your feet. Now, the company is using the same idea to create a line of beds. The Birkenstock Sleep Systems are manufactured to mold to and support your body. Each bed is made of the same materials in the famous shoes: natural cork, latex, leather, and fabric.
The line, which includes three versions, features mattresses with three different levels of firmness: pocket spring, natural latex, or cold foam, so you can choose one depending on your sleeping preferences. Each mattress has a special Birkenstock layer that’s made of natural latex and cork granulate, which will mold to your body, but will return to its original shape when you’re out of the bed. For slatted frames underneath the mattress, the company offers straight, wavy, and disc spring options.

And it wouldn’t be a Birkenstock bed without a comfortable foot component—there’s a “heel relief zone” in each of the frames and mattresses, so you can give your feet some extra TLC after a long day.
In addition to the mattress and foundations, the Sleep Systems also feature six different kinds of bed frames for every style of room. The beds are all named after places—São Paulo, Montreal, Iona, Montevideo, Canberra, and Maine. They each have distinct stylish details, including leather piping, upholstered headboards (in fabric or hand-sewn leather), and patterned wooden bases.
According to a rep for Birkenstock, there is no U.S. launch date yet and pricing is not currently available. For now, take a look at these beautiful pieces below and start saving up.
São Paulo: The bed’s legs aren’t as noticeable, so it looks like the whole piece is floating. The headboard has real leather piping.
Montreal: Look down for the most beautiful detail on this bed—the patterned bone base is reminiscent of Birkenstock shoe soles.
Iona: This low, contemporary bed has straps of leather on the headboard that can be used to hold magazines or newspapers.
Montevideo: This bed provides extra comfort, since it comes with an additional mattress topper. It also has straps of leather for easy storage, too.
Canberra: Both luxe and rugged, this headboard is upholstered in hand-sewn extra-thick leather. And like leather bags and shoes, this one will develop a beautiful patina over time.
Maine: If you have a thing for midcentury modern design, you’ll love this one, which is reminiscent of the style.
