Dirt (and cleaning-induced frustration) is no match for the new Dyson V11 vacuum.

Dyson continues to surprise (and, in a neat-freak way, delight) us with smart additions to its powerful cleaning lineup, including a spectacular, fan-favorite hairdryer. The company’s most recent launch introduces three new items, and two are unexpected—though the third, the intelligent Dyson V11 Torque Drive, is the sort of super-useful, intuitive cleaning tool we’ve come to expect from Dyson.

Dyson may be best known for its vacuums, but its effective—albeit pricy—personal care items (including the genius Airwrap hair styler), air purifiers, and humidifiers continue to impress, and now Dyson is offering even more beyond its vacuuming base. With the V11, Dyson launched the Pure Cool Me and the Lightcycle, a personal air purifying fan and a task light, respectively. (All three items are currently available for order exclusively through Dyson’s website.)

The Dyson Pure Cool Me ($350) sends purified streams of cool air over the user, offering relief both from heat and from air pollution, while the Dyson Lightcycle (from $600) tracks light levels to offer the best possible illumination for any project; a table lamp and a floor lamp are both available.

From our perspective, though, the Dyson V11 Torque Drive ($700) steals the show. The new Dyson cord-free vacuum shares the sleek, high-tech look of Dyson’s other vacuums, plus a screen on the vacuum’s handle that can display remaining run-time and battery life (down to the second), so users can make the most of every moment of cleaning power. The screen can play troubleshooting videos to help users fix their vacuums then and there, decreasing the chance anyone will have to call customer service with a problem that’s easily (and embarrassingly) fixable.

The V11 can adjust automatically between carpeted and hard surfaces, further making a quick vacuuming job easier. The V11 Animal, also new, has the same high-powered suction power as the Torque Drive without the screen and is available for $100 less. It’s like it’s tailor-made for the most impatient cleaners: The V11 Torque Drive is a more powerful cleaning tool that adapts automatically to effectively clean hard floors and carpets, can all-but fix itself, and tells you when it’s time to recharge without mid-task power-failures. If you’ve ever wanted to throw any vacuum out the window out of frustration, the V11 Torque Drive is here to save the day and make cleaning a less-angering chore.

Is Dyson for everyone? No. (We’ll be the first to acknowledge that Dyson comes with a steep price tag.) But Dyson’s products continue to offer excellent value to match their prices, making it a valid splurge for anyone interested, and the same holds true for these three new additions.
