It's easy to get swept up in the sales, especially when you're shuffling through aisles of madness at 5 a.m. Don't worry if you went a little overboard and threw some merchandise in the cart that you didn't actually need. Whether you shopped online or in the stores this year, luckily you can return almost anything you bought. Here's everything you need to know about time limits, return fees and exceptions, across some of the most major brands.

Time limit: Items bought on can be returned for a full refund for up to 30 days after they shipped. This holds true for most other carriers on Amazon, but it is possible that those shipped by other sellers may have their own return policies.

Fees: Customers can self-return, meaning they foot the bill for the cost of shipping the product back to Amazon, or they can pay $6 for a UPS pickup, which will be deducted from the cost of the total refund.

Exceptions: With the exception of clothing, baby items may be returned within 90 days. Also, bulk items may cost more to return, depending on weight.

Apple Store

Time limit: Apple buyers must return products within 14 days of receiving the item. Apple will only accept items purchased at an Apple store or on their website.

Fees: Apple returns are free and will allow customers to either schedule a shipping pickup time or drop off the package at any of the carrier’s locations.
