The Book Reese Witherspoon Recommends for Holiday Gift-Giving
Our favorite celebrity bookworm is at it again.
On Sunday, Reese Witherspoon spent her morning devouring another book from her ever-growing collection: Oprah Winfrey’s The Wisdom of Sundays: Life-Changing Insights from Super Soul Conversations. A curation of various conversations with prominent figures on Winfrey’s show SuperSoul Sunday, this book is one to add to your list.
“Sunday morning reading the best book,” Witherspoon shared on Instagram, showing a series of excerpts from best-selling authors Cheryl Strayed, Brené Brown, and Gary Zukav. “( also a great gift for the holidays !) #wisdom #sunday.”
In her mention, Strayed, the best-selling author Witherspoon portrayed in the Oscar-winning film Wild, answered the question, “If you had to sum it up, what did the trail teach you?”
“Acceptance,” Strayed replied. “Accept the fact of the hour. The fact of the mile. The fact of the summer. The facts of my life. And over and over again, I found that if I could do that, everything else sort of gave way…”
Witherspoon also snapped a photo of the page from Winfrey’s conversation with Brown.
“What does it mean to dare greatly?” Winfrey asked.
“To me, it means the courage to be vulnerable,” Brown responded. “It means to show up and be seen. To ask for what you need. To talk about how you’re feeling. To have the hard conversations. We asked people in the research, ‘What is vulnerability to you?’”
And the third best-selling author mentioned was Gary Zukav, who spoke with Winfrey about intention.
“An intention is the quality of consciousness that you bring to a deed or words,” Zukav said in the interview. “It’s an energy. It’s your reason for speaking. It’s your motivation that creates consequences…”
