Picture this: You’ve just brought the kids home from school, you’ve been at work for a full day. You’re all hungry, bordering on cranky, and, for some reason, you thought it was a good idea to skip take out and make dinner at home. Okay, so you’re just popping a pizza in the oven, but, oh no! You’ve forgotten that preheating your oven to 425 degrees adds an additional 15 minutes until you get to sit down and eat dinner. Not a huge deal, but still a nuisance—especially when the kids are starting to get restless.

But imagine if you could preheat your oven while you were still in the car? Or, better yet, imagine that you could pop that pizza in the oven and actually leave the kitchen and do better things than wait for a frozen pizza to cook? Wouldn’t that be nice? Well, Whirlpool, the appliance company, is here to make your dreams come true (or your life just a bit easier) with its newest smart oven.

The appliance company unveiled its newest smart range, the Smart Front Control Range, at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada. For those unfamiliar with the event, CES is a trade show where consumer companies unveil their newest tech products and innovations for the upcoming year. Not only does the range offer remote start functionality, meaning you can turn your oven on (and off!) even when you’re miles away, it also has voice control integration, so you can sync with your Google Assistant or an Alexa-enabled device.

Another unparalleled feature? Users on Yummly can choose a recipe from the app, and then send it to their oven to automatically preheat, adjust cooking temperature, and turn off when the recipe is completed. The app will also remind you when it’s time to start prepping in order to have dinner cooked and ready by your pre-planned time.

The range will be released this spring and will be available in three different finishes. The exact price and release date are still to be determined.
