Plums, Peaches, and Nectarines
How to choose: Ripe stone fruits should yield slightly when gently squeezed. Plums should have dull, not shiny, skins.
How to store: Refrigerate plums and yellow peaches in a plastic bag for up to 5 days; nectarines and white peaches in a plastic bag for up to 1 day.
Best uses: Like berries, stone fruits are wonderful eaten out of hand and baked in pies. They can also be roasted, poached, sautéed, and grilled.
