How Starbucks Is Rewarding Customers for Shopping at the Grocery Store

You don’t have to go into a Starbucks to earn your stars.

Starbucks Rewards just got more rewarding. Now, members of the retailer’s loyalty program can earn “Stars” on more Starbucks’ items at the grocery store. These include their premade, ready-to-drink beverages, K-Cup packs, and the brand’s Multi-Serve Chilled Coffee drinks.

All members have to do is submit their receipt to Starbucks by texting, emailing, or uploading it to their computer. Receipts must be sent within 60 days of the grocery store purchase. Starbucks will review your itemized receipt and email a response. Stars will appear on your Starbucks Rewards account about three days after you receive a confirmation. Some products will have a sticker on the front of the package with a special "Star" code—for those, you can enter the code into your account to redeem.

For each ready-to-drink beverage, members earn two or four stars in return. Members receive two stars if they purchase drinks like bottled Frappuccinos or Refresher cans. The Multi-Serve Chilled Coffee options are worth four Stars. Members will earn the most credit (up to 25 stars) after purchasing the Starbucks K-Cup packs (40+ count).

You can also earn stars on whole and ground packaged coffee and Starbucks VIA Instant products. Receipts can only be sent via smart phone or email.

The stars collected from these grocery store purchases can be used by Gold-level members to redeem Rewards on food and drinks and participating Starbucks locations. Rewards members earn “Gold status” after acquiring 300 stars. These members have access to additional perks, like a gold-colored Starbucks card and exclusive deals on Starbucks products.

This announcement comes just two days after Starbucks debuted their Midnight Mint Mocha Frappuccino and updated Protein Boxes.
