Skippy Foods, in conjunction with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, is voluntarily recalling 9,353 cases of SKIPPY Reduced Fat Creamy Peanut Butter Spread, SKIPPY Reduced Fat Chunky Peanut Butter Spread, and SKIPPY Creamy Peanut Butter Blended With Plant Protein. The products, which weigh more than 161,692 total pounds, are being recalled because of possible contamination. More specifically, some jars may contain a small fragment of stainless steel from a piece of manufacturing equipment. Per a separate announcement from Skippy, the recalled products were distributed to retailers in the following 18 states: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin. These Are the 10 Best Nut and Seed Butters For a Protein Boost The recall was issued out of an abundance of caution after internal detection systems at one of Skippy Foods' manufacturing facilities identified the issue. Per the FDA, there have been no consumer complaints associated with this recall to date, and all retailers that received the affected product have been notified. However, if a consumer has any of the above recalled products, they should either return it to their retailer for an exchange, or throw it away.
