If you’re not in the mood for chocolate, another version of bread pudding features the candied-fruit–studded Italian bread panettone, which is widely available at Christmastime. A store-bought packaged panettone is a popular holiday gift, so if you have an extra on hand, this recipe is a great way to use it. You’ll soak the cubed bread in a mixture of cream, milk, eggs, sugar, orange zest, and vanilla before baking for about an hour, until the pudding is set but still moist. It’s a fun twist on a Christmas classic that’s sure to wow your holiday guests.
