3 Delicious Drink Ideas for Trader Joe's New Watermelon Juice

The moment I see a giant bin of watermelons in the grocery store, I know summer is not far behind. Come to think of it, summer wouldn’t be complete without this naturally sweet seasonal staple. Perfect for a refreshing poolside snack or a healthy dessert at a barbeque, watermelon is the symbol of summer for so many. Whether you’re a kid or a full-grown adult, there’s no better feeling than taking a big ‘ol bite out of a watermelon slice, and having the juice drip down your arm.

Thanks to one of Trader Joe’s newest products, we can now enjoy this beloved fruit as a bubbly beverage! TJ’s new sparkling watermelon juiceseriously tastes like summer in a can, and is made with fresh, not-from-concentrate watermelon juice and has no added sugar. Enjoy it chilled, straight from the can, or mixed with your favorite liquor. But if you’re really looking to impress your guests, try out one of these irresistible summer watermelon cocktails.

Spiked Watermelon Sparkler (Trader Joe’s Recipe)


  • ½ cup Watermelon, plus a few more cubes for garnish
  • Fresh Mint
  • 4 ounces Vodka
  • 1 can TJ’s Sparkling Watermelon Juice
  • 1 Fresh Lime, sliced


Muddle watermelon and mint leaves in a measuring glass. Divide mixture among 2 glasses and fill with ice. Divide vodka among glasses, top up with sparkling watermelon juice, and stir until combined. Garnish with a watermelon cube, more fresh mint, and a squeeze of lime.

Sparkling Watermelon Margarita


  • ½ can TJ’s Sparkling Watermelon Juice
  • 1 cup Regular Watermelon Juice
  • 4 oz Blanco Tequila
  • 2 ½ Tbs. Lime Juice


Put watermelon juice (if not using store bought, you can put fresh watermelon in a blender), lime juice, tequila and a handful of ice to a cocktail shaker. Make sure to shake well until combined. Before pouring, try a small amount and adjust flavor as needed. If it’s to your liking, pour over ice and top with TJ’s sparkling watermelon juice.

Watermelon & Gin Fizz


  • 1 Cup Watermelon Juice
  • 2 Limes
  • ½ Can of Sparkling Watermelon Juice
  • 3 oz Gin


  • Fill glasses with crushed ice and Pour ½ cup of watermelon juice into each glass
  • Squeeze the juice of one lime into each glass
  • Pour 1 ½ ounces of gin and ¼ can of sparkling watermelon juice to each glass. Stir well.
  • Garnish with lime wedges
