S'mores Girl Scout Cookies

While some food fads fade as quickly as they come, it seems the s’mores trend is here to stay. In celebration of National S’mores Day and 100 years of Girl Scouts selling cookies, Girl Scouts of the USA announced two new flavors on Tuesday—and they’re both inspired by the classic campfire treat. The first version features a crunchy graham cookie coated in crème icing and dipped in chocolate, and the second is a graham sandwich cookie with a chocolate and marshmallow filling. The flavor is a natural fit for Girl Scouts, who have been making s’mores since as early as the 1920s.

“The new Girl Scout S’mores cookies capture the adventurous spirit, love of the outdoors, and feeling of community that are synonymous with Girl Scouts,” Syliva Acevedo, interim CEO of Girl Scouts of the USA, said in a statement. “As we approach the 100th anniversary of the first known sale of cookies by Girl Scouts, it only seems natural to celebrate it with a new cookie flavor that ties to our heritage and captures the adventurous, take-charge, and civic-minded spirit of our girls.”

Both cookies are kosher, and are free of artificial colors, partially hydrogenated oils, and trans fats. The chocolate-coated cookie is also vegan. They will both be available for the 2017 cookie season, which kicks off in January. Need to satisfy your s’mores craving in the meantime? We’ve got six tasty treats that we bet will do the trick (no campfire required!).
