We have been making this for over 10 years. Every time I make it for guests, someone requests the recipe. For those worried about spice, don't. If you de-seed the jalapenos, it won't be spicy. The apricot jam helps smooth out any spiciness as well. We've only made the dish once in the oven and found it very messy. Ever since we have made this in the crock pot and it comes out perfectly every time. Simply rub the meat with spices, place in crock pot and cover with onions, jalapenos and jam. Cook 8-12 hours on low, depending on how big your cut of meat is. We've used pork butt, shoulder and country style ribs, bone-in or boneless. Your house will smell great as it slow cooks all day. Enjoy!
This recipe looked so good, I wanted to try it with venison tenderloin tonight . Couldn't find salsa, chili powder or cocoa powder in the list of ingredients, am I missing something?
This recipe is a family favorite, great for a large crowd!
