Salty miso paste draws out the umami in the tomato juice and Worcestershire sauce to create a truly delicious, savory drink. This recipe calls for a blender to ensure the miso is blended evenly into each sip, and it makes for a particularly luscious texture. Though the recipe serves one, it can easily be doubled or batched up for a crowd. Serve with fried eggs, potatoes, and bacon, or channel a restaurant kitchen with savory waffles.

  • .66666667 cup tomato juice

  • 1 tablespoon white miso

  • 2 teaspoons prepared horseradish

  • 1 ½ teaspoons fresh lemon juice

  • 1 ½ teaspoons pickle juice

  • ¾ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  • teaspoon celery salt

  • ¼ cup vodka

  • Pickled okra, celery stalks with leaves, and pimiento-stuffed green olives

  1. Process tomato juice, miso, horseradish, lemon juice, pickle juice, Worcestershire, and celery salt in a blender until combined. Pour into an ice-filled glass, and stir in vodka. Serve with pickled okra, celery, and olives.
