Irresistible. Delicious. Can’t. Stop. Eating. That’s the best way to describe this candy-like popcorn recipe, which blends standard pantry staples.

You’ll make a quick butter-spiked honey sauce with a generous dose of salt to balance the sweetness and add sophistication. Choose your favorite nut to stir in, or go for a mix of a few. Pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds would taste great, too. Serve the popcorn as an afternoon treat with tea, or pair it with a bitter cocktail to play off the sugary honey.

  • Cooking spray

  • ½ cup popcorn kernels or 1 3-oz. bag microwave popcorn

  • 1 cup peanuts, almonds, pecans, or pistachios

  • cup honey

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Coat your largest bowl with cooking spray. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Pop popcorn according to package directions; transfer to bowl and add nuts.

  3. Combine honey, butter, and salt in a medium skillet over medium. Cook, stirring often, until slightly darkened, about 4 minutes. Pour honey mixture over popcorn and nuts and, using a rubber spatula, toss to coat. Spread in an even layer on prepared baking sheet.

  4. Bake until darkened and bubbly, 8 to 10 minutes. Stir to incorporate honey syrup, then let cool completely.
