Awesome recipe!
so good!
Green beans and bacon are the best together.
I like this combination of green beans and beacon, it's really making a good balance.
Delicious!
Next time, I'm also going to finely dice some red bell pepper and saute it with the shallots--nice Christmas colors, red and green.
I have made this for Thanksgiving for two years in a row. My extended family of 36 from coast to coast (including several chefs) insist I continue to make this annually. So delicious! It is easy to make and can (and should) be made ahead of time. The key is to start with really fresh green beans. I cooked the beans the night before (less cooking time, 4-5 minutes) and then straight into a bowl of ice water. Drain, dry thoroughly, and store wrapped in paper towels in refrigerator overnight. Take out one hour before serving and toss with dressing. This recipe is a hit.
I don't see why you couldn't. I'm going to try using canned green beans.
Did you serve hot or cold?
Can you use frozen green beans too?

CAN SOMEONE TELL ME HOW TO FIND THE RECIPES I HAVED SAVED ON HERE
Just scroll down past the box where you made your comment.
ladybugtina15 - "Whole Grain Mustard" is jarred mustard that has whole mustard seeds in it. You can find it in pretty much any supermarket. Just look for the words "whole grain" on the label.
So so so good! I used my favorite smoky mustard (Annie Mae's) and these turned out amazing. I'll have to eat clean for the rest of the week to make up for it, but they were worth it.
I would say it is out of a jar
can anyone tell me...is the whole grain mustard a spice or mustard out of a jar?
I served these for Thanksgiving and everybody loved them I am serving them for Christmas Eve with crab legs--Yum!!! 5 star rating
This was my favorite Thanksgiving dish. I made it in place of the classic green bean casserole and it was a HUGE success! So delicious, fresh and savory. A real hit. The dish also mixed well on the plate with stuffing and mashed potatoes. I did make the (organic) bacon in advanced and added copious amounts of bacon grease. I've already made the recipe again it was so delicious!
Ginnyyyyyy how much brown sugar, how much onion? Yes, alas, you have to tell me everything. :)
Thanks Ginny. Finally a written review. Can't wait to try it.
Ginny - Where did you read reviews with ratings for this recipe. Looks like from the other two users bookerkate and KarenMerc that they can't find them either. Help us!
There have been so many great recipes from Real Simple! I have trouble understanding the review business and see so many complaints about this? Isn't there a way to simplify it? Back to the green beans...this is a great recipe but I modified. I added brown sugar to the dressing, layered raw onion rings alternately w/ the beans, poured the dressing on and baked in the oven for 30 min. at 350.....five stars!!!
That's what I've been looking for. I want to read other peoples comments before I try a recipe. Where are they???
