These days, you can pretty much order any flavor of margarita, from blood orange to jalapeño. Our personal favorite, however, is grapefruit—and we guarantee it will become yours, too. To create this festive cocktail, we combined tequila, lime juice, grapefruit juice, and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker, then poured it over ice and topped it with bubbly kombucha. To make simple syrup, combine equal parts water and sugar in a saucepan, bring to a boil, and cook, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is dissolved. Let cool before adding to the cocktail shaker so that it doesn't melt the ice.
1 cup (8 oz.) tequila, divided
½ cup fresh lime juice (from 4 to 5 limes), divided
½ cup fresh grapefruit juice (from 1 grapefruit), divided
6 tablespoons simple syrup, divided
½ cup kombucha (original flavor)
Thinly sliced lime, for serving
How to Make It
Combine ½ cup tequila, ¼ cup lime juice, ¼ cup grapefruit juice, and 3 tablespoons simple syrup in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake until chilled, about 30 seconds. Pour over ice in 2 rocks glasses with salted rims. Repeat with remaining tequila, lime juice, grapefruit juice, and simple syrup. Top each glass with 2 tablespoons kombucha; garnish with lime slices.
