If I wanted to use fresh lime juice would the measurement still be the same, 6oz? And does anyone have any tips on how you whip liquids with semi-frozen or frozen ingredients? Won't it splash all over? Thanks.
Read MoreI prefer pie with real key lime juice and skip the cool whip...use the egg whites to make a meringue...this seems like it is just artificial.....
Read MoreGreat tasting pie. Can also make using frozen lemonade. I use the same version as Amy, 4oz or half a carton of Xtra Creamy Cool Whip. Never had a problem with it firming up using Cool Whip.
Read MoreThis pie is not a Key Lime Pie, it is a Lime pie. Although it is probably delicious, it is misnamed. A Key lime is a different fruit than a lime! Key limes are yellow and real key lime pie will be yellow, not green.
Read More@KarenMorse - I had difficulty getting it to "form soft peaks", as well. I tried my stand mixer with BOTH attachments and my hand mixer (which I normally use to make whipped cream, without issue). All I succeeded in doing was making a hella' mess on the counter -even WITH the KitchenAid splash guard in place. Eventually, I gave up and stuck it in the freezer, where it DID set up after an hour or so. I think next time I might try whipping the cream, then mixing the lime stuff and the condensed milk and folding it into the cream. ...and oh, BTW, if you have a little of the filling that won't fit in the crust, DO NOT mix it with rum....honest......it's awful....;-)
Read Morei've been making this for my partners birthday every year for the last 3 years. he adores it and it's so quick and easy. a favorite!
Read MoreA variation of this pie has been a family favorite for many years. I got it out of one of the Sunday newspaper magazines. Instead of heavy cream, I use fold in about 4 oz. of Cool Whip. Then, at the end, instead of lime zest, I sprinkle about a handful of flaked, sweetened coconut on the top. We like coconut! I have also frozen it, but, it usually gets eaten before I have a chance to freeze it.
