How to Make It
Step 1
Cut the frozen waffle into sticks (½ inch thick). Melt the butter with the sugar and cinnamon in a medium skillet over medium heat.
Step 2
Add the waffle sticks and cook, turning often, until caramelized and crisp, 2 to 3 minutes.

Made this recipe (with some alterations) and it was a huge hit!! My suggestion is to buy the waffles, bake them first (I threw them in the toaster oven at 350 for 10 mins, flip if needed). Once they were cooked, I cut them into strips. Then melt the butter in a mug in the microwave. Using a cooking brush, brush butter onto waffle strips and then immediately roll in a bowl of cinnamon/sugar. Transfer the coated waffle strip to a frying pan over medium heat and cook about a minute on both sides until they lightly brown. Came out perfect! Crisp and caramelized- even made a vanilla yogurt dip to dip them in!

I really wanted to "get" this recipe, so I made it two different times. I thought the first time I didn't let it cook long enough to carmelize (which was not 2-3 minutes) it was more like 10-15 minutes. Anyway I tried again today by letting the butter and sugars crystalize first but then as the waffle thawed it became mush in a pan. Sorry, but i wouldn't recommend this!

What is the point of this recipe? It does, of course, sound delicious, but to take a marginally healthy food (maybe it could be redeemed a bit by the use of whole wheat waffles), and add more sugar and butter? Is it intended to be a dessert?
