  • Bring potatoes to a boil in salted water.

  • Reduce heat and simmer until tender, 20 to 25 min.; drain.

  • Add butter, salt, and black pepper. Mash until well combined. Stir in buttermilk.

Serving Notes

Tip: Buttermilk can separate if warmed too much. Just barely warming it will be enough to prevent the mashed potatoes from cooling down.
