Oysters make any night seem special, but this bacon-topped rendition is the recipe for a deluxe celebration. Think: New Year’s Eve party at home or a romantic night for two. Panko adds the right amount of crispy crunch to balance out the tender oysters. Oysters can be tough to shuck yourself. Don’t be shy about looking up some DIY videos and arming yourself with thick gardening gloves and a stack of dishtowels. Better safe than sorry! Serve with dry sparkling wine or light beers.

How to Make It

Step 1

Preheat oven to high broil with rack 6 inches from heat source. Spread rock salt into a ½-inch-thick circle on a rimmed baking sheet. Nestle oysters in rock salt to hold in place.

Step 2

Stir together panko, oil, parsley, and garlic in a small bowl; sprinkle evenly on oysters. Broil until panko is golden and crisp, about 4 minutes. Remove from oven; top with bacon.
