I was worried that the cake would be too heavy so I added a 4th egg. I also wondered if it would be too sweet with the caramel sauce but it wasn't, especially if you serve with vanilla ice cream. I would also recommend two spring form pans. The second one I froze for another occasion and it tasted just as good.
Very nice cake. Made this for New Years Eve along with the caramel sauce and everyone loved it...I will be making this one again. I made mine in a spring form pan, as suggest by another reviewer, in the largest one I had and it came right up to the top. I too will make it in 2 pans next time. I let mine cook so that the top had a crust and loved that. I will also sauté the apples in a little butter and sugar next time before adding to the batter.
Tastes GREAT. Made this for Christmas dinner. Followed the recipe as written. Next time I will bake the cake in 2 9" round spring form pans. Hopefully, this will make the presentation much easier to serve and look like the picture.
