Antoni Porowski is in on your jokes.

During his two-season run on the Netflix reboot of Queer Eye (which just took home three Creative Arts Emmys and has and a third season on the way), Porowski has helped dozens of people improve their lives one delicious meal at a time. But, along the way, fans of the show realized that Porowski may only know how to cook with one item: avocados.

His affection for avocados quickly turned into a viral sensation and one that poked a whole lot of fun at Porowski and his culinary decisions. His “can he or can’t he” cooking skills were even part of a massive New Yorker investigation earlier this year.

But, Porowski quickly learned to laugh at his haters and has even begun embracing his avocado-only cooking routine for the greater good.

“If the person needs avocados, then I’m not going to deny them avocados because some troll decided I use avocados too much,” Porowski shared with Refinery29 earlier this year.

In a followup with the website, Porowski was even kind enough to share a few of his tips and tricks to picking out the perfect avocado to go with any meal.

"There’s a trick to test steak to know if it’s medium-rare, rare, medium, or well-done,” Porowski said. “You take your finger and you touch the joint of your thumb, and that’s what texture should be like. If you take your pinkie and you touch where your thumb joint is, it presses down, but it’s really still nice and firm. That’s actually the perfect test for avocados."

As for his favorite ways to consume the green and delicious fruited berry (yes, avocado is really a fruit, not a vegetable), Porowski said he has a lot, but called out one of his top avocado picks in particular.

"One I use to get at my favorite smoothie place in Montreal when I was a student,” he shared. “It’s a Lebanese way where they take this really concentrated yogurt and add all kinds of fresh fruit like papaya and mango and avocados. The texture was so nice and creamy, and it really adds a beautiful brightness and color."
